Those of you who have read Leskov’s book before watching this film will be pleasantly surprised. Not only is the fact that the film very closely displays the story in content, but the very spirit of the narrative is conveyed very faithfully in this excellent film. This is exactly how I imagined Ivan Golovan when I read the book. The piety, simplicity, openness of the characters of the book come to life in the actors of the film, who got used to their soul-wrenching roles. Let us assume that for many this film will be for one time, but this single viewing will not be able to leave in their memory a touching picture of the past of our Motherland, thoroughly captured by the master of the sharpest pen - Leskov. I recommend it to everyone!
